Visit the Cathedral, the Gibralfaro Castle and the Alcazaba

Every tourist that visits the city should see this combo of Málaga monuments. Do you know why the Cathedral of the Incarnation of Málaga is also known as "the one-armed one?¨ If you admire this emblematic monument from afar, you will quickly find the answer: the building lacks a South tower. Still looking for more ideas? If you have a free morning, you cannot miss this trail located in the middle of nature. Of course, if you have a certain fear of heights, it may not be the most suitable activity for you, since the route advances through various bridges and gorges that offer an adventure for only the brave of heart (although it is totally safe).

As for your visit, you have two options: take the tour on your own or with a guide. In both cases you can follow the path in a circular way, or leave your car at the exit and travel to the entrance by bus. For this little adventure we recommend that you wear comfortable clothing and sports shoes, as it will greatly facilitate the tour. This beach walk gets its name from Antonio Mercero, the director of the legendary series “Verano Azul”. The seafront walkway covers the entire width of Burriana beach, and is considered to have one of the best views in the whole province. The Antonio Banderas Beach Walkway

This beach walk, dedicated to the Malaga-born Antonio Banderas, runs along the entire length of Misericordia beach. Its 5 kilometers offers a large number of attractions, such as beach bars, restaurants, shops and even several areas for outdoor sports in the so-called "beach gyms", which are spread along the Costa del Sol. In addition, along this walk you can find different monoliths in honor of Spanish actors and actresses such as José Coronado, Rosa María Sardá or Javier Gutiérrez, a peculiar way of awarding prizes to great representatives of Spanish cinema.

The Benalmádena Beach Walkway

Benalmádena 's beach walk runs along the entire coastline of the municipality, from the Bil Bil Castle to Puerto Marina. Similar to the others, Benalmádena's offers plenty of activities and services for everyone, giving you everything needed for a pleasant day on the coast. Along your walk you will find ceramic and natural stone mosaics, and the monument to Ibn al-Baitar, an Andalusian doctor and botanist born in the municipality of Benalmádena.

The Senda Litoral de la Costa del Sol project was born with the aim of connecting the 14 municipalities of the area in a sustainable way that promotes tourism and physical activity. As a result, today you can walk, bike, run, skate and more along a large part of the coastline from Nerja to Manilva. Although there are still some stretches that need to be adapted, the project has been a great success for the province. If you love to enjoy nature, on the Costa del Sol you will find hundreds of paths, lanes and beach walks through which to discover this fantastic land!

Walk Through the Old Town (Casco Antiguo)

Narrow streets are not only exclusive to Cordoba, Granada or Seville. Take a trip through Benalmádena and walk through a labyrinth of narrow streets and alleys, with cobblestones. Of course, you should keep in mind that there are slopes as it is a mountainous place next to the sea.

Experience Bil Bil Castle

Built in 1927, it was instituted by the Hermann family and designed by the architect Enrique Atencia. However, this family was never able to truly enjoy this home due to the breakout of the Spanish Civil War. From there, it passed into the hands of William Schenstrom, an American who settled in the area and renovated the original building.

Its name also originated from a curious story, as both the new owner and his son were called Bill, short for William. When the workers came to reform the home they greeted them both by saying hello to 'Bil and Bil', meaning the name is not of Arabic origin as it would appear. Today it belongs to the Town Hall and is often used to celebrate weddings as it is a place of great beauty.

Visit Colomares Castle

Christopher Columbus is the common thread of this building that was designed by the surgeon Esteban Martin, who along with two workers, made this Castle Tribute to the V Centenary of the Discovery of America. Although he was often branded as a bit crazy, he did not give up and worked on it until the day of his death, managing to place this attraction for Benalmádena, which has become a must-see monument.

Take in the Beauty of the Marina Port of Benalmádena

The closest thing to a work of art by the sea. But, don’t just take our word for it. The Port of Benalmádena has been highlighted on two occasions as "The Best Marina in the World", and it’s no wonder why. It is an area with an exceptional leisure environment, but besides being a port, it is also a residential area with luxury homes. It’s wonderful for taking an evening stroll as it preserves the remains of a watchtower and is home to the Sea Life Aquarium.

Observe the Immense Buddhist Temple of Benalmádena
