Street lights, Christmas markets, concerts, Christmas carols, nativity scenes,... Malaga offers lots of things to do over the Christmas season. The great climate enjoyed all year on the Costa del Sol and the family atmosphere make Christmas in Malaga one of the most anticipated and acclaimed in the whole of Spain. If our country is beautiful in summer, can you imagine how spectacular it is to visit it on these dates? If you want to experience a magical Christmas this year, don't miss out on the ideas and activities that we at The Beach Club Higuerón suggest.
Visit the Christmas Markets of the Area
The Christmas markets in Malaga give the other European markets a run for their money. Strolling along the market stalls while tasting some comforting roasted chestnuts is one of the best ways to enjoy this beautiful time of year. Each town has its own market, with a unique charm, so you can take a tour of all of them if you wish. Among the most famous are the Christmas markets in Benalmádena, specifically in Arroyo de la Miel, the Christmas market at Muelle Uno, Ronda, Fuengirola and Álora, a beautiful town located in the mountains. Dare you visit them all?
Enjoy the Spectacular Christmas Lights
The Christmas lights of Malaga attract visitors worldwide from the end of November (this year from the 26th). Malaga decorates its main streets, the most representative being the Alameda Principal and Calle Larios, where light and sound shows take place every night that both children and adults fall in love with.
Although the most famous Christmas decorations of the Costa del Sol are in Malaga´s capital city, there are many other light shows that are also worth visiting. Among them are Torremolinos, which begins on December 3, Fuengirola, which starts on the same day as Malaga, or Estepona, which begins on November 25.
Attend a Candlelight Concert
Enjoy a concert illuminated by candlelight and performed in some of the most emblematic places in Malaga. Magical, right? Candlelight has become one of the most beautiful musical events in the world, offering classical, rock, and pop concerts, and various tributes to artists such as Queen or Hans Zimmer. If we add the Christmas atmosphere to the attractiveness of the show, the result is an unforgettable evening for you and your companions. To find out all the concert details visit the official Candlelight website.
Taste and Enjoy the Christmas Gastronomy
Andalusian gastronomy is one of the most rated worldwide, but its Christmas sweets are not far behind! Among them, all kinds of ¨polvorones, pestiños and yemas de huevo¨ stand out. The town of Antequera has a long tradition of craftsmanship in the production of this type of seasonal product. Having said that, if you have a sweet tooth, we recommend that you go to the town and buy the sweets in the factory itself - we promise they will surely be the best Christmas sweets you ever try.
Don't Forget the Beach!
Who said you can only enjoy the beach in summer? As we’ve mentioned on more than one occasion, the climate on the Costa del Sol is unique, so you can still enjoy the sun's rays on its beautiful beaches and absorb a little vitamin D. Among the various activities on offer, we recommend after a walk along the shore you visit The Beach Club Higuerón. During the winter season we’re open from Wednesday to Sunday from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm, and from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm, so you can fully enjoy The Japo or come to our special parties! There’s no better way to disconnect from the routine!
