Located less than 20 kilometers from Malaga city is Torremolinos, one of the most-visited local municipalities. Torremolinos offers both residents and visitors all kinds of activities to do, making it ideal to enjoy with family or friends. Here are some of the best things to do in the area.
Spend the day at a Theme Park
Who said theme parks were only for children? In Torremolinos there are two great theme parks, suitable for all ages: Aqualand water park and Crocodile Park.
If you’re an animal lover, you’ll especially enjoy Crocodile Park, as you’ll be able to see different species of crocodiles and other reptiles as well as their habitats along the marked route throughout the park or in the various exhibitions offered throughout the day.
Once you’ve visited Aqualand, you’ll want to go back every summer. The rides at Aqualand are sure to get your adrenaline pumping, however if you prefer a more relaxing, leisurely time, Aqualand can also cater to this as well.
Visit the Plaza de la Nogalera
This is a central square where you can find all types of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. The square tends to be a bit less crowded in the daytime than it is at night. Plaza de la Nogalera is one of the most central points of the city, so you will likely end up visiting it more than once, especially if you want to enter one of the many drinking establishments around Torremolinos. As it’s a nice open space, the Plaza de la Nogalera is also a nice place to sit and people watch.
Get to Know the Local Nightlife
Torremolinos is home to a great variety of discos and pubs with the nightlife in the city being one of the most popular in the Costa del Sol. There are night spots for every taste in Torremolinos from Hip Hop and R & B to reggaeton, techno or 80s and 90s nights. In addition, Torremolinos is world famous for its inclusivity, so there is a large LGTBQ community!
Enjoy a day at the Beach
Torremolinos has a very busy promenade, where pedestrians, cyclists and skaters can enjoy impressive views of the sea. Among the various beaches in Torremolinos are the Playa de La Carihuela (the closest to Benalmádena), Playa del Bajondillo (the most visited along with La Carihuela due to its easy access to the city center), Playamar and Costa Lago. Finally, bordering the nude beach of Guadalmar, we find the beach of Los Alamos, the liveliest area of Torremolinos and also ideal for doing all kinds of water sports.
