- How to Arrive in Fuengirola
Starting with its incredible beaches, tourist sites and much more, there is plenty to do and explore in Fuengirola.
Beaches of Fuengirola
Fuengirola has several beaches, all of them bathed by the Mediterranean Sea. Some of the best beaches include: Castillo beach, Santa Amalia beach, Las Gaviotas beach, Torreblanca beach, Carvajal beach, Ejido beach and Los Boliches beach. Boliches beach is perhaps one of the most famous, on account of all of the services it offers, its accessibility and its length, which allow visitors to spend a pleasant and relaxing day basking in the sun, sand, and bathing on the shore.
If you’ve already visited these beaches and you’re looking for something more, you can also travel approximately 5 kilometres to Benalmádena. There, you can continue enjoying the beaches of the Costa del Sol and visit The Beach Club Higuerón, located in an exclusive area where you can sip on cocktails, sunbathe on one of our Balinese beds or simply enjoy the beach with friends and family.
Castillo Sohail
If you’re a history buff and want to visit something a bit more cultural, we recommend Sohail Castle. Located 38 meters above sea level, this site was built during the time of Al-Andalus. Inside the castle there are various activities. Among the most outstanding is the Festival Marenostrum Fuengirola which includes a multitude of open-air concerts (especially during the summer) where both Spanish and international artists alike perform, as well as other events such as the Fuengirola Comic Con, Oktoberfest Beer Festival and cultural events of all kinds. We recommend you take a look at its program on the official website, as you are sure to find an interesting event or activity.
It is also located right next to the Fuengirola River Park, where you can rent pedal boats, kayaks or stroll along the river.
The Marina
As with other large towns in Málaga, such as Benalmadena or Marbella, Fuengirola has a superb marina as well as 7 kilometres of beaches. Take a stroll and see the various boats moored, buy a souvenir in their souvenir shops or eat at a beach bar or restaurant and enjoy your day to the fullest. In addition, the port offers various tourist activities, such as water sports or boat trips. Will you be one of the lucky ones to spot a group of dolphins?
Feria internacional de los países
If there is an event par excellence in Fuengirola, it would be the Feria Internacional de los Países. It is held every year between late April and early May, and receives in each edition thousands and thousands of visitors who come to Málaga specifically to enjoy this celebration.
In addition to the traditional amusement rides and food stalls that you can find in any fair, this fair, or feria, is particularly spectacular for its thematic “casetas” which offer tastings of the typical gastronomy of the different countries, as well as handcrafted products and spaces with regional music. On the big day there is also a parade of folkloric groups and a festive atmosphere, an event that is definitely worth enjoying!
